Different varieties of ornamental shrimp have different reproduction times. The lobster breed twice a year, and the crystal shrimp can breed once a month. Most shrimps are hermaphroditic, and two must be different in sex to produce offspring, but lobsters can reproduce parthenogenetically, and one can also lay eggs. If you want to breed, you should first pay attention to the water quality, the hardness of the water should be less than 8, the water temperature should be maintained at about 25 ℃, and you should also pay attention to feeding.
How often do ornamental shrimp breed
There are many varieties of ornamental shrimp, and the breeding frequency is also different. The slow one is like the lobster, which only breeds 1-2 times a year, while the fast one is like the crystal shrimp, which can breed once a month. It should be noted that most of the shrimps are hermaphroditic and need two different genders to reproduce. One kind of lobster is special. It can reproduce parthenogenetically and one can also produce shrimp.
How to breed ornamental shrimp
1. Water quality: The first step for the ornamental shrimp to breed is to maintain the water quality. Poor water quality can easily cause it to kick eggs. Usually, soft water should be used for reproduction, and the hardness should not be greater than 8. If you want to ensure that the water is clean, you can use pure water. If you use tap water, you need to remove chlorine.
2. Water temperature: The temperature of ornamental shrimp is relatively strict in the normal growth stage, especially in the breeding period, which is usually kept at about 25 ℃, 1-2 ℃ higher than usual. It should be noted that the water temperature should not be too high. If the temperature exceeds 28 ℃, the female shrimp will not be able to hold eggs.
3. Feeding: In order to enable the ornamental shrimp to lay eggs smoothly, it is necessary to supplement nutrition and feed it more shrimp food, which can also improve the quality of eggs and make the young shrimp easier to hatch and grow.
4. Oviposition: After mating between female shrimp and male shrimp, sperm will be stored in the female shrimp. When ovulating, sperm will be squeezed out to complete fertilization, which will form an egg mass, and its tail will pick it up to wait for the hatching of young shrimp.
